TAMPA, Fla. – (October 11, 2010) — Bank of America awarded Meals On Wheels of Tampa a $30,000 operating support grant which will be used to address a new state law signed in August, which mandates increased background screening for all volunteers who serve vulnerable populations. This grant will ensure that Meals On Wheels of Tampa will not have to draw upon its operating budget to cover the cost of $42.25 for each background check required for the over 700 volunteers who regularly deliver hot, healthy meals to homebound and seniors in the community. Meals On Wheels of Tampa is extremely grateful for the generous grant and its ongoing partnership with Bank of America.
