TAMPA, Fla.– (December 5-7, 2011) – Meals On Wheels of Tampa delivers holiday gift bags to the homebound and seniors to brighten their holiday season.
For many of our recipients their family lives far away. Age and lack of financial resources keep many of the elderly bound to their homes during the holidays. Meals On Wheels of Tampa is making the season extra special by assembling and delivering holiday gift bags to each recipient. This is our way of reminding our homebound and seniors they are not forgotten and we care. Each bag is filled with a variety of items, including: a calendar, Christmas ornaments, snacks, juices, hygiene items, and one special wrapped gift, which is a plush white towel this year.
These gift bags are made possible by the many donations Meals On Wheels of Tampa receives from businesses, faith-based organizations, schools and individuals in the community. A special thank you to: Dr. Edward, Village Presbyterian Women, US Food Service, Hillsborough County Sherriff’s Office, The Girl Scouts, Vangent Inc.,Canterbury Towers, Cheney Brothers, Odyssey Marine Exploration, Nu Vista.
Members of the MOW Tampa Board and staff are gathering at our facility to assemble the bags on Monday, December 5thfrom 9:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. Volunteers will deliver the bags on Wednesday, December 7th. This program has been a success for many years. Many recipients often say this is the only gift they get all season. It is always something they look forward to receiving.
