Meals on Wheels delivers more than dinner this Thanksgiving

News

Volunteers load up to deliver goods from Meals on Wheels.

“What we’re doing is we’re trying to reach out to people who don’t have family are gonna be home alone today so we can bring them a little smile friendship” says Jan Costello who’s been volunteering since the 80’s.

Turkey dinners are already out, now it’s care packages and flowers.

For some volunteers it’s a teachable moment for their children.

Mother of two, Carol Brooks says, “I’m hoping that they’re learning that not everybody is as fortunate as they are and they need to make sure they’re not just doing things for themselves but somebody else.”

More than 800 people got turkey dinners and care packages. More than 100 volunteers helped get them out.
